"Kings of Their Trade Score a Golden Hat Trick"

Local building company King Bros Construction are celebrating after striking gold for a third time in a prestigious building awards contest.

Barn conversion and renovation specialists King Bros scooped the South Wales Local Authority Building Control gold position for a third time for work completed at Ty-Hir at Grwyne Fawr in the Brecon Beacons.

The family celebrated their win at a glamourous award ceremony, hosted by BBC sports presenter Jason Mohammed, in front of 400 guests.

It comes after Powys Local Authority Building Control has nominated two schemes by King Bros Construction for the Award of Excellence in various categories.

The Clydach, Abergavenny firm's barn conversion at Pentwyn in Talgarth was commended with a place on the runners up platform, whilst their work at Ty-Hir was forwarded to the South Wales event, where it was eventually crowned winner along with Powell Design Architecture.

The Powys guests were delighted to hear the announcement, particularly Powys Building Control officer Julian Williams, who originally nominated the Ty-Hir scheme.

Mickey King said: "The Powys Building Control team, under the leadership of Chris Jones, played a major part in the organisation and have to be congratulated for the initiative and professionalism of the event where the best of Wales construction were represented proving quality still prevails in this modern world in spite of the current recession.

"In his opening statement Chris Jones had said the awards were set up eight years ago to raise the standards within the constructionindustry, with the South Wales Local Authority Building Control wanting to drive out the 'cowboy' element in the trade and encourage excellent building standards.

Family run King Bros Construction are the second generation of a successful company running for over 20 years.
